FRU General Service Shop

Primary responsibility is the operation of heavy equipment and the projects relating to such equipment. The equipment they maintain and operate include backhoe with cab, bulldozer, dumptruck and trailer. The General Service crew also does metal fabrication and assists other crews with their work as well.

Activities include:

- farm road construction, repair, and maintenance

- irrigation installation (underground), and repair

- land drainage including tile, culverts surface inlets, ditches, etc installation, repair, and maintenance

- general bulldozer and backhoe work orchard removal, cleaning out hedge rows, etc

- trucking for off campus work, fruit harvest, gravel, stone, sand, etc. moving equipment, cleaning research plot etc.

- brush removal by raking, pushing , chopping, and or burning

- snow plowing farm plots and farm roads

- cleanup and maintenance of farm ponds and hedgerows

- fabrication, repair and maintenance of equipment
